Fitted Diapers

Fitted diapers are cloth diapers that are shaped like a disposable diaper and usually have snaps or hook & loop closures. They are not waterproof, so they do require a diaper cover to be used over them. You do not need a separate diaper cover for each fitted diaper, most people rotate through several diaper covers throughout the day, letting one air out, while they use a different one. The advantage of fitted diapers is that you can use a variety of diaper covers, such as wool, fleece, or PUL, or you can use them with no cover at all if you want. Some people don't use covers at home, especially if they are trying to clear up a diaper rash or if it is very hot. Fitted diapers like Kissaluvs size 0, are nice for newborn babies because you can get a nice snug fit around the legs to prevent any leaks. Fitted cloth diapers also make good night time diapers. They are generally more absorbent than other diapers, especially if you use a diaper doubler with them. Top your fitted diaper off with a wool diaper cover, like the Stacinator Day/Night Wool Cover, or a fleece diaper cover, like the Stacinator Deluxe Fleece Cover, and you have a very absorbent, leak free, night time cloth diapering solution.

            What is the most absorbent fitted diaper? There is usually a trade off between absorbency and trimness. Very thick fitted diapers also take longer to dry, so ideally what you want in a fitted diaper is a nice balance between trimness, absorbency, and something that dries fairly quickly. The Swaddlebees One Size Organic Velour fitted diaper does a great job of meeting all those things. And it's also a One Size diaper, so no having to buy all different sizes of cloth diapers. Pocket Fitted Diapers, like the Happy Hempy, are nice because you adjust the amount of absorbency by adding as many inserts as you need. That is what makes the Happy Hempy a great night time cloth diaper. It is bulkier than some other diapers, but for overnight, bulk is not a bad thing, it means more absorbency. Kissaluvs fitted diapers are a very easy to use fitted diaper. They have an internal soaker, which means you don't have to worry about snap in soakers or inserts, it's all one piece, sewn together. It does mean a little longer drying times, and you may need to add a doubler if you plan to use them for overnight. But for economy and ease of use Kissaluvs are a great fitted diaper. Thirsties Fab Fitteds have quickly become a top seller. They go on easily with velcro closures and come in a wide range of bright colors.

            Environmental Concerns
            If you are looking for the most eco-friendly cloth diaper, fitted diapers are one of your best choices. An organic cotton cloth diaper with a wool diaper cover is very environmentally friendly, with only all natural fabrics coming into contact with babies skin. For organic cotton fitteds we have Swaddlebees Organic Velour Fitted Diapers in both newborn and One Size styles.  We have also have Dream-Eze Organic Cotton Fitted Diapers. These are trim fitting, but very absorbent. A good choice for overnight and a top rated diaper on the Diaper Pin.  We have several styles of Bamboo Fitted Diapers coming soon. Bamboo combined with organic cotton also makes for a very eco-friendly cloth diapering choice. However, Bamboo fabric is usually combined with a small percentage of polyester for added durability.
